International Volunteer Organization
We are an non-profit voluntary organization, active in the field of international cooperation.
We promote and support educational and personal developments programmes, fostering life experiences and intercultural exchange that offer young people new opportunities for growth. Through these initiatives, we aim to help overcome conditions of poverty - both economic and human - and to broaden young people's personal horizons for their future.
OUR STORY
During the summer of 2023, Sendas organised his first intercultural exchange between Italy and Colombia, welcoming six young people from the Coredi boarding school in Medellín to Milan. Thanks to the collaboration with the Gentilino, LaRiva, and San Cipriano oratories, the young people had the opportunity to experience a new cultural environment and take part in the summer oratory activities.
Subsequently, nine young people from the Milanese oratories took part in a programme in Colombia, working alongside local educational organisations. During their stay, they took part in voluntary work and rural missions, experiencing the hospitality of the most vulnerable members of society and meeting local communities and authorities. These experiences fostered mutual understanding and the formation of meaningful bonds between young people and communities from different countries.
Between September 2023 and February 2024, an educator from Sendas worked in Medellín with the aim of coordinating and supporting the development of 23 new youth clubs in the Antioquia region.
In February 2024, the Sendas Academy was launched, a career guidance and training programme aimed at young school leavers. The first six participants took part in practical activities, in-depth study of pedagogy and psychology, and voluntary work, continuing the educational journey they had begun during the summer programme.
At the same time, Sendas has strengthened its presence in the voluntary sector by taking part in events and awareness-raising initiatives, including the ‘Fa’ la cosa giusta!’ fair, the ‘Students for Humanity – Volunteering’ event organised by Bocconi University, and the Milan Archdiocesan Seminary Festival.

Through its activities, Sendas has developed a network of partnerships involving youth clubs, sports associations, educational bodies and church organisations in Italy, Colombia and Brazil.
In Italy, the network includes the Gentilino, LaRiva and San Cipriano oratories, and the associations DIfendiAmo, ASD Gentilino and ASD Juvenilia. In Colombia, Sendas collaborates with the Coredi schools in Marinilla, Rionegro and El Peñol, the Diocese of Sonsón-Rionegro, the parish of Santa Ana in Granada and the Amigos del Mar association. In Brazil, the network extends to include collaboration with the Savipa association in Caxias do Sul.
Thanks to this international educational network, Sendas has contributed to the establishment and management of 31 youth centres in various countries, promoting educational opportunities, participation and growth for local communities.
In Colombia, the development of the youth centres has also been made possible thanks to the support of the Bishop and the Diocese of Sonsón-Rionegro, Monsignor Fidel León Cadavid.
